Aftercare
Leave the bandage on for the amount of time discussed during the appointment.
To remove second skin, get in a warm shower and peel off the bandage slowly, pulling the bandage and skin in opposite directions. Let the water run between the tattoo and bandage but not directly hitting it.
With clean hands, wash your tattoo with an unscented antibacterial soap, such as Spectro-gel or Cetaphil. Make sure to get all the vaseline, plasma and sweat from your tattoo. Lightly pat your tattoo dry with a clean towel or paper towel. Wash tattoo 1-2 times a day or as needed.
After 2-3 days or when the tattoo starts to itch or feel tight, start applying a thin layer of unscented water-based lotion, such as Aveeno or Lubriderm. Apply 2-4 times a day as the tattoo needs it. Don’t over-moisturize but don’t allow your tattoo to dry out. Repeat throughout the healing process.
The healing process can last anywhere between 2-4 weeks. It’s normal to see some flaking or scabbing during the healing process, but do not pick or scratch at your tattoo. Picking at the scab will result in missing pigment and permanently damage the tattoo.
During the healing process, do not swim, bathe, hot-tub, etc. Showering is fine, but do not allow the tattoo to soak. Do not excessively sweat on the tattoo.
Avoid excess sunlight during healing and make sure to wear sunscreen on your tattoo only once it’s healed. UV exposure will deteriorate your tattoo over time.
Touch-ups are free if you follow aftercare instructions.
